Changes to Exterior Signage Can Make a Big Impact
Often, we focus our attention on signage within the organization, inside the zoo or museum or garden. We focus on the experience that comes once you’ve bought your ticket and are through the gates. But, the experience that happens before that gate can be just as important when it comes to making a positive impact. Vibrant, easy-to-read identity signage helps put visitors at ease, letting them know “You have arrived, you are in the right place.” Take a look at just a few examples of what we mean.
The Dell Music Center
At our initial site visit to the Dell Music Center, we saw that the aging entrance structure needed to be redone to better welcome visitors. We recommended a new marquee sign, complete with a bold, new front fascia and large illuminated letters. The color-changing lights, new paint, and murals brought this entrance back to life.

Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania
We undertook the task of enhancing the exterior visitor experience at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania. Our challenge, make the unassuming industrial-looking site visible, welcoming, and reflective of RMP’s character. The new building and entry signage provides a clear identity for visitors.

Maryland Zoo
One thing lacking in Maryland Zoo’s entry landscape was a definitive landmark sign that would clearly mark a guest’s arrival. We were pleased to work with the Zoo team to correct that oversight. A gorgeous new landmark sign was designed, fabricated, and installed in 2024. Our designers drew on the strong wordmark logo of the Zoo, bringing it to life in full color 3D. The sign not only marks a visitor’s arrival, but makes for a beautiful photo op.

Philadelphia Zoo
We worked with Pennoni Associates to create a new iconic sign for the Philadelphia Zoo that is big and impactful. Its scale proudly announces that you have arrived. Installed in the new plaza entrance of the zoo, it is an integral part of the vision for an enhanced visitor entrance experience and clearly pulls the entrance to the Zoo front and center.

As you can see, entry signage can make a huge impact on your guest experience. When was the last time you took a look at your front entry? What messages are you sending to visitors? Give us a call and we’d be glad to talk through some ideas!
