Creative Processing: Art In Therapy

Humans have been using their creativity as an outlet for processing experiences and emotions for generations. Beginning in the 1940s, therapists, educators, and artists began creating a formal practice of creative arts in a therapy setting. The exhibit Creative Processing: Art in Therapy looks at both formal and informal creative expression and the impacts they can have on health and wellbeing. Through artifacts from the Mutter Museum’s collection to artworks from around the country, visitors can delve into the history, logistics, and outcomes of creating, and even try their hands at an art therapy exercise.

Gecko Group was thrilled to be working on our third collaboration with the Mutter Museum team. We provided interpretive development and content writing, as well as exhibit and graphic design services. We were excited to work with the Mutter team from the beginning of the concept phase through to installation. The exhibit stands as a powerful reminder of the importance of creativity and the arts to everyone.
